The grade 7, 8, and 9 bands as well as the jazz band will be presenting a concert in support of the Stonepark Gives Back fundraising campaign on Thursday evening in the Stonepark gymnasium. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and band students are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m.. Uniforms are required for this concert. Admission to the concert is by donation, and all proceeds will be used to raise funds for the local Cancer Treatment Centre at the QEH, for cancer research, and for treatment programs focused on youth.
Full band rehearsals will be held throughout the day on Thursday, so all students should bring instruments and music to school.
In order to allow gym classes to resume on Friday morning, we have been asked to move band equipment out of the gym immediately following the concert.
I am going to ask the grade 9 band students and all percussionists and jazz band members to be responsible for this following this concert. Equipment can be moved through the back hallway to the band room very quickly if everyone helps out.
The grade 9 band will also be performing in the P.E.I. Band Days Band Festival at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6th at Confederation Centre. We will take a bus to the centre at 1:00 p.m. and students will be responsible for arranging their own transportation home at the end of the day. We will be remaining in the theatre as a group after our performance to listen to the two bands scheduled to perform after us. Students may be picked up at the centre at 4:30 p.m..
Grade 9 band students who have not paid their second trip deposit ($40.00) are asked to please do so as soon as possible. The final payment ($132) will be due before March Break.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you at the concert on Thursday evening!
