Congratulations to all of the band students on their excellent performances at the recent Stonepark Gives Back concert. The band and strings students raised $1200 for the QEH and cancer research. Students should be very proud of their efforts! Thank you to everyone who helped support this worthwhile cause.
Congratulations are also extended to the grade 9 band students who represented the school so well at P.E.I. Band Days. We are very proud of your performance and we received some excellent feedback which will help us to prepare for our next festival performance in Halifax.
Please note that complete uniforms will be required for our performance in Halifax. Students are reminded that the concert band uniform consists of black pants and dark shoes, the band sweater, and a white shirt or blouse with a collar.
Extra-curricular rehearsals are now finished for the second term. We will resume the regular extra-curricular rehearsal schedule after March Break.
Upcoming Events:
Monday, March 12: Grade 9’s will visit CRHS in the morning for a high school band program orientation concert. We hope to encourage the majority of our band students to continue to study and enjoy music at the high school level.
Friday, March 16: Grade 9 final band trip payments ($132) are due. I would really appreciate it if cheques and cash could enclosed in an envelope labeled with the student’s name and class. Thank you for your help with this.
March 29 and March 30: Band Testing at elementary feeder schools
April 13: Grade 7 Band Day in Summerside
May 3-4: Atlantic Festival of Music in Halifax (Grade 9 Band and Strings Trip)
Thank you to parents for your support this term, and thank you to students for all of your hard work.
Enjoy a restful March Break and have a happy St. Patrick’s Day!
