Band Camp List (June 23)

We have a very large group of students attending Band Camp 2016  (which is great!) so I am posting my registration list for parents to review.  Please contact me if there are any errors or omissions that need to be corrected before June 28th.

Thank you; I look forward to seeing all 117 of these students from August 22nd to 27th at Colonel Gray!

Thank you once again for your support, and have a great summer!

June 7

Congratulations to all of the band students on their excellent performances last week at the Spring Concert.  I was very proud of each performing group, and it was a pleasure to share all of the music we have been working on with such an appreciative audience.

Congratulations to Sam Langille and Michelle Baldwin who were the very deserving recipients of the 2016 Musician’s Award.

A big thank you is extended to Josh Underhay for his assistance and participation at the concert and for all of the work he has done with the Jazz Band and the Glee Choir this year.

Thank you also to all of the Stonepark staff members who attended. The students really appreciate seeing you there.

The donations we received at the door will be used to support the extra-curricular components of the band program.  Thank you so much for your generosity!

A few reminders:

1. Thank you to the grade 9 students who handed in band sweaters following the concert. I am only missing ten sweaters; if those could be turned in by Friday I would really appreciate it. Grade 8 band students will keep their sweaters for next year.

2. Instrument and band book inventory will be carried out next week.  Students must have instruments, books and music binders with them for all band classes until the end of June.

3.  A new playing test for each grade level has been assigned in Google classroom.  These playing tests must be completed by assigned due dates.

Grade 8 Field Trip Update

  • The full cost of bowling and busing will be covered through our fundraising account.  Students will just need to bring an appropriate amount of money to pay for their fast food lunch.
  • We will be a little less formal for this performance:  students are asked to wear their band sweaters (white t-shirts or dress shirts under the sweater for boys), but students may wear shorts or jeans instead of black dress pants.  Students can bring a change of clothing for after the performance at Sherwood.
  • Students should attend their regular home room classes on Friday morning and then come to the band room immediately after announcements.
  • Grade 8 PERCUSSIONISTS are asked to come to the band room as soon as they arrive at school to help organize the equipment that is to be moved.  Band students in 8A and 8B are asked to come to the band room at 8:25 to help move music stands.
  • All students should be prepared to attend their period 6 class and are responsible to catch up on any school work missed during the day.

Thanks!  I am looking forward to a great day with the grade 8 students.
