Grade 9 Band Trip Update

It looks as though we will be traveling to the Atlantic Festival of Music in Halifax with 65 band students.  I am very happy to see this level of commitment from the students, and I know that all of the students involved will benefit greatly from this experience!

The second and final $100 payment is due by Friday, April 1st.  Cheques should  once again be made payable to Stonepark Intermediate, and payments must be submitted in a clearly labeled envelope or zip-lock bag.

Students will be given a set of information and permission forms at early morning band on Tuesday, March 29th which must be completed, signed, and returned with their final payment.

Thank you!

Band Days 2016

Congratulations to the grade 8 and 9 band students on their excellent performances during PEI Band Days. Both groups played very well, and were fine representatives of Stonepark  throughout the event.

Thank you to the parents who came to chaperone and those who came to listen and support the bands.

A special thank you to Mrs. Burry and Mr. Beck for attending the grade 8 and 9 performances, and for their help with all of the field trip logistics!

Grade 8 and 9 Band Performances

The grade 8 and 9 bands will be participating in the P.E.I. Band Days Festival to be held at the Delta Convention Center on lower Queen St. in Charlottetown next Wednesday, March 9 (Grade 9) and Thursday, March 10 (Grade 8).  Full participation in this event includes performing and listening to other bands.

All P.E.I. Band Days performances are free and are open to the public. Parents, relatives, and friends of band students are welcome to attend.

Students are responsible for arriving at the Delta ready to play with their own instruments and music. Full uniforms, including black dress pants, dark shoes, band sweaters, and white dress shirts, are required for these performances.

Grade 9 Band Days Performance Information (Wednesday)

Grade 9 students are asked to wear their uniform to school or take it with them to change at school before they leave.  They also need to bring a small lunch or snack to eat at 3:00 prior to our set-up time.

Students will be bused to the Delta at 1:15 p.m. following a short rehearsal in our band room during the lunch break.  They will listen to school bands during the afternoon prior to their performance.  They perform at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the furthest Southern ballroom of the Delta.

Please pick students up in the lobby of the Delta at 4:45 PM following our adjudicated performance.  Notes are required if students have your permission to leave the Delta to meet you at another location.

Grade 8 Band Days Performance Information (Thursday)

Grade 8 student are asked to provide their own transportation to the Delta Prince Edward on Thursday morning. Grade 8 students should meet Mrs. Peters at the Delta  no later than 8:00 am. When you arrive at the Delta, follow the roadway to the end of the Delta convention centre, circle around the little roundabout and come back up to the drop off zone which is just before you get back to the main entrance.

The Grade 8 concert band set-up time is scheduled for 8:00 am, with a formal 30 minute warm-up at 8:30 am, followed by our adjudicated performance in the main ballroom at 9:00 am.

Following their performance, students will listen to other school bands perform.

Grade 8 students will be at the Delta during the lunch break, and they are asked to please bring a lunch.

We will have the opportunity to listen to the Stadacona Military Band before taking school buses back to Stonepark at 1:30 p.m.

I would really appreciate having a couple of adult chaperones to help supervise the grade 8 and grade 9 students while they are at the Delta. If you could help me out with this, please send me an email or call 902-368-6085.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Alison Peters
